Hespeler Village is the most historically sensitive masonry in the city. Much of it predates portland cement, and a wall built in lime will crack, spall and trap water if it gets repointed in a modern high-cement mix — which is exactly what has happened to a good deal of it already.
We work in lime here by default rather than as an upgrade, match colour and joint profile to what survives, and take out failed modern repairs where they are actively damaging the brick. It is slower work than a standard repoint and we quote it honestly as such.
